CV List

Katy Sodeau S.E.A.

Katy originally trained and worked in Architecture. She took up painting seriously whilst she was living in Newmarket in the late 1980’s. She was attracted to the potential of the views around the race course and practice areas and inspired by the work of other equestrian artists. Katy’s favourite medium is watercolour but she also paints in oils, acrylic and pastels. Katy has been working as a professional artist since 1995.

Since 1997 Katy has had work selected for each of the Society of Equestrian Artists annual national exhibitions in London and has been promoted to full membership of the society. She won prizes for her work in their 2003, 2004 & 2005 SEA annual shows. Many of Katy’s racing paintings have been published in the racing annual ‘Travelling the Turf’.

Wildlife painting is a relatively new obsession that came about after recent safaris to Kenya, Tanzania, Botswana and South Africa. Katy is especially interested in capturing the drama and excitement of interaction between wild animals. The migration and river crossings in Kenya and the packs of wild dogs in Botswana have been favorite subjects.

Katy has also exhibited with the Society of Wildlife Artists and in the 2004 Daily Mail ‘NOT the Turner Prize’ exhibition.
